Amidst the Powers – A Benediction

On Saturday, we all participated in the Evolving Church: Amidst the Powers confrerence put on by our friends and co-conspirators at Epiphaneia. From start to finish it was a good day of discussion, keynote addresses and connecting with many we’d not seen in a long time – or hadn’t met until Saturday.

The keynote addresses from Walter Wink, Stanley Hauerwas and Marva Dawn all challenged us to live our faith personally and corporately in the midst of a world where the powers are simultaneously good, fallen, and being redeemed.

At day’s end, the empire remixed team had the honour of leading the conference in a closing benediction and commissioning. We’ve posted both the powerpoint slides and the full text version of the benediction in our Resources section.

Jesus for President: A Litany of Resistance

At “Local Pain:: Local Hope,” our springtime event with Shane Claiborne at BP Presbyterian, we ended with a prayer litany. The litany was composed by Christian Peacemaker James Loney, and modified by Brian Walsh for the event.

Well, that litany has made some travels since, will make its published debut in Shane’s new book, and will travel with his Jesus for President tour in June and July 2008.
